Real estate fund donates $5,000 to support local housing programs
Springtime in Aspen/Snowmass highlights the natural beauty of snow still on the peaks and green vistas dotted with dandelions. The Realtors’ Board contributions benefit a spectrum of valley residents.
The Aspen Board of REALTORS® has donated $5,000 to Tom’s Door, Catholic Charities, and The Salvation Army using funds collected by the Colorado Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF).
Projects funded include:
- Tom’s Door $2,000 to provide temporary emergency service to families and individuals from Aspen to Rifle for rent deposits, rent or mortgage payments;
- Catholic Charities $2,000 to fund their Transitional Housing program which helps extremely low income households in Pitkin County and surrounding areas that are in danger of becoming homeless;
- Salvation Army $1,000 to provide funds to help prevent eviction for persons who have had a lapse in income due to job or medical reasons.
Karen Toth, President of the Aspen Board of REALTORS® noted that “It is the Aspen Board of Realtor’s mission to bring awareness to our local non-profits and we are grateful for the CARHOF funds available for us to provide assistance to those who give throughout the year to so many.”
CARHOF has provided grants to nonprofit and public housing agencies for 20 years. This year, the foundation donated $375,500 to 94 organizations, and since its inception, CARHOF has donated more than $7 million.
CARHOF generates revenue from interest earned on earnest money deposits and donations from real estate brokers and others in the real estate industry. For more information, visit www.CARHOF.org.
